Kelly Wilcox is a production designer and makeup artist whose work spans commercials, music videos, documentaries, and narrative films. With a BA in Fine Arts from Hampshire College, her foundation in painting and color theory deeply informs her visual storytelling.
Kelly is drawn to narratives centered on characters living on the fringe of society, and she thrives in close collaboration with directors, actors, and department heads to bring each story’s world to life.
Her work has screened at renowned festivals including SXSW, Slamdance, Atlanta Film Festival, and Fantasia. She designed the feminist revenge thriller TIGHT, which premiered in competition at SXSW 2024 and was named one of Harper’s Bazaar’s top 10 films to see. The short later received a Vimeo Staff Pick.
Recent credits include the feature SONG OF THE BIGFOOT (dir. Brent Bishop), starring Tre Hale, Baron Vaughn, Vivian Bang, Rhys Darby, and Brenda Strong, and THEIR TOWN(dir. Katie Aselton), a coming-of-age romance starring Ora Duplass and Chosen Jacobs. Both films are currently in post-production.
Off set, Kelly can be found painting, walking on the beach, or enthusiastically sending her friends script ideas, grant links, and podcast recommendations. She lives in Los Angeles with her wife and creative partner, cinematographer Sarah Whelden, and their cat Etta Grey.
